Scope: Anthropology Defined

“anthropology.(note 1) The study of man. The word probably originated with Aristotle’s description of the man with lofty ideas who is not a gossip or a talker about himself. The word anthropology is first found in English in an anoymous(sic) book on human nature, which divides the subject into psychology and anatomy.” Also, “The contemporary science of Anthropology consists of archaeology, cultural anthropology, linguistics, and physical anthropology.”
